Saipem UK Ltd, Sonsub Division was invited to participate at ‘Energise Your Future’ - a first of its kind interactive oil and gas industry careers event at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 26th June.
The event offered senior secondary school pupils from Aberdeen City and Shire the chance to discover and explore the huge range of career and lifestyle opportunities the oil and gas industry has to offer – now and in the future.
Pupils were encouraged to test their piloting skills on a portable ROV Simulator (supplied in conjunction with General Robotics Ltd) and fly through a subsea inspection competition scenario, with the top three scorers then invited to Saipem’s Bridge of Don premises to receive their prizes andtry their luck on a full size training simulator.
The winning pupils, and budding pilots of the future, are pictured below receiving their prizes from Commercial Manager Garry Millard, who commented ‘Energise Your Future was a great event which gave Saipem the opportunity to show school pupils that technology similar to what they use daily in their gaming consoles is in use within the Oil and Gas industry’s subsea sector and hopefully the experience will instil a desire to consider a career with ROVs in the future. Congratulations to the prize winners - their scores were very impressive.”
